The Bellarine: Barwon Heads and Finding Canola Fields

Barwon Heads

Barwon Heads is a small coastal town along The Bellarine Peninsula, about 15 minutes away from Geelong. I remember the first time I have been to this place was on a summer day when Nikky took me for a drive for a late Valentine’s Day celebration.

Being a coastal town, it is expected that it will be busier and ‘buzzier’ in the summer. Families with children can enjoy the shallow waters along the sandy river foreshore at the river mouth, while the more adventurous ones can head up for a surf at Thirteenth Beach. For those who just simply want to sightsee and relax there are a lot of specialty stores and coffee shops along the main street.

This visit to Barwon Heads was to cap off my friend’s week-long birthday celebration with brunch at the Beach House.

Canola Fields

On our drive going to Geelong, we passed by fields and fields of picturesque canola flowers in full bloom. They looked so pretty and so Instagram worthy! To me it looked and felt like a scene from a movie depicting the crossing over to Heaven…or something like that.

We would not allow the day to end without finding the perfect canola field to stop and take photos.

Luckily, we were able to find the perfect spot.
